Cognitive Psychology used in kids’ toys

Cognitive Psychology allows a person to look online, since this kind of stuff has been studied. You can look online and find your kid’s age to see if they are where they should be. Then you won’t have to think about it too much or stress your kid out. I think that kids should get to play too. Actually, one of my psychology teachers said last semester, in child development class, that children learn by playing. Isn’t that cool? I saw a bunch of educational learning games at the store the other day. I was looking for stuff to buy for my nephew for his birthday. I think about all the toys I saw were for learning. But they looked fun! And they were sold with those in the same developmental stage. What I mean is the toys were grouped with the other toys for a certain age. Like there were toys for 6 month olds, and 2 year olds, and 3 year olds… the study of cognitions, or thoughts, is called cognitive psychology and I’m real grateful for it. Otherwise we wouldn’t know what kids like, and we might get them toys they think are boring and won’t play with. I think it’s important to let kids have fun, because they like to play a lot. At least the kids I know do.

An example of thinking in the service of feeling, present in especially Myers Briggs types ENFJ and ESFJ:
“You don’t sew with a fork, so I see no reason to eat
    with knitting needles.
    – Miss Piggy, on eating Chinese Food ” – wikipedia.org
Now I think this is hilarious… but its an excellent example of how types like ESFJ and ENFJ, their logic isn’t quite logic at all.
That’s not to say that these types cannot develop their logical thought processing capabilities; they can. But it takes being aware, and actually admitting to oneself, acknowledging one’s weaknesses.
That’s always hard for any type.

Myers Briggs Personality Tests: What do they REALLY tell us?
Hmm? Are they really all that useful?
My opinion is that these tests are fun. As far as actually use a test to define what career I will choose, well, I don’t know…
I found an interesting read about how to use those little letters you get when you take one of these tests. Myers Briggs Type Indicators: a 4 Step Guide was really helpful to me. I don’t think I really understood my results all THAT well, until I took a look at this stuff. The writer explained what the Myers Briggs Letters mean, enough in depth to help me get it, but it was brief enough for me to not lose interest.

Okay so a lot has happened since my last post. The holidays are CRAZY. Personality tests have been low on my priority list. But since things have been settling down, I decided to get back on the horse, so to speak. Hahahaha….

Personality Tests Galore: So many, such little time

My latest fave personality test is the socionics test. There is an entire wiki, wikisocion, for this stuff. Socionics is fairly similar to the commonly known Myers-Briggs or the Keirsey. However, the added benefit is that socionics defines relationships between the types. I had been looking for something like this for a long time, and was thrilled when I found the info.

The idea behind socionics is that we each see others differently (duh). More importantly, each type sees each other type differently than someone of another type.

Honestly, there is no better theory that i’ve found to date that better describes one-on-one and group dynamics. Oh! As far as group dynamics are concerned, socionics Quadras are…the bomb. No other word to describe it. Truthfully.

    Santa Clause’s Personality Type

Yeah yeah, I know, Santa is a fictional character. But if he were real, with what culture says about what kind of person he is, What type would he be?
ISFP? He does love those cookies,
    ESFJ- providing all those toys…
But both of those are in the Alpha Quadra. Maybe Santa is more utilitarian! Or is he a socializer???

Posted (socionics.com) about Angelina Jolie’s type:

‘INFP. She had a “troubled” childhood, which is actually described in the Keirsey description of INFP, although I believe the exact words were more like, “misunderstood.”

Angelina has that mysteriously beautiful INFP vibe for sure. Beta Quadra romance and passion, she seems to have it…

I do believe that a look at relationships to other types can help with accuracy when typing. But I think Brad Pitt is closer to ESFP than ENTJ. But who knows. I really have little knowledge about his personal life. “

    Just posted this on socionics.com:

    The Performer ESFP

“um…ahem…in my opinion the name of the ESFP profile, “The Performer”, is what makes my decision that Britney Spears is ESFP. Look at their different styles…Madonna promotes [sex] (ESTP, The Promoter) and Britney performs. Among other [endless] reasons.”

    Happy happy fun fun!!! ENFP

    You be the judge

Just Posted this in reply to

“What types are Steve Carell and Will Ferrell? — Anonymous”

“Will Ferrell, I must agree, ENFP. He’s too much fun, in a wild, random sorta way. Plus youjust know while watching his snl skits he’s pretty fly by the seat style, not rehearsed much at all.
I think Michael Scott, Steve Carell’s character in the office, is ESFJ. But an extremely lonely, lost poor soul ESFJ. Not the average ESFJ, just several notches down in GAF score…heh.”

“Hi! could anyone tell what’s Katy Perry and Lady Gaga’s types? thanks!:) — romamor” on socionics.com:

“…I am of the opinion they are both decidedly ESTP.
Lady Gaga is misleading, but if you look at her in enough interviews you’ll hear what she values. What she looks for in a partner, What her life aspirations are.

Example of Lady Gaga's at times misleading appearance

“ESTPs are outgoing, straight-shooting types…Blunt, straight-forward risk-takers, they are willing to plunge right into things and get their hands dirty.” http://www.personalitypage.com/ESTP.html

You can see the dramatics and romantic sensuality of the beta quadra in many of her videos.(“ESTPs have a strong flair for drama and style.” http://www.personalitypage.com/ESTP.html)

Also, she is somewhat of a chameleon (Fe/extraverted feeling) as you can see in this clip of Lady Gaga with Paris Hilton ( ISFP) (start at 1:10).”

I don’t know, lady gaga’s pretty weird. ESTPs usually care a lot about being “cool” and she dresses pretty strange as of late.
